Bats, Bees, and Butterflies: Week 2, Day 4

Today was an exciting day because we went to the beach! Our butterfly life cycle is still a pupa and is working on growing all their butterfly body parts.

Before we went to the beach, we went to explore the pond. We looked at what different fish eat and how it works in the ecosystem. It was so cool to know how all of the things in the pond survived so when we went to the beach we knew why the grass grew in the water.

We spent a little time with the animals. We learned that Montie is a jersey cow and a jersey is a dairy breed. Jersey cattle actually produce more milk than holstein cows (the typical black and white cows) and are more docile.

It was a fun but cold day at the beach. There’s so many beach pictures! Check the Tollgate Facebook page next week to see all the pictures from the beach!

When we got back from the beach, we made sushi using carrots, rice, and seaweed paper. At first everyone was a little nervous about eating seaweed but as soon as they wrapped up their rice and carrots, it tasted delicious!

See you tomorrow!
