Hello again!
Today was an exciting day because we took a field trip to Eastern Market to look at other farm stands and meet with other entrepreneurs! We started off our day at the Michigan State University Extension kiosk. We learned about some programs they do at the market to help entrepreneurs and make eating fresh vegetables more affordable. We gathered some of the materials at their booth for a scavenger hunt and a list of questions for other entrepreneurs around the market.
We met with the entrepreneur and asked some great questions about starting our own business!
After that we were given some time to explore the market. We went and talked to other entrepreneurs about their different products and how they started their businesses.
We went back to the MSUE kiosk to learn about food safety and balanced meals. We got to play with a board where we decided where each of the foods went to make a balanced meal.
After that the campers each received $10 to help their stands. They used the money to buy products to get ideas of what they would like to sell or make. It was also used as an idea of what to charge for their produce or product. Everyone had a great time negotiating and working together to come up with ideas!
We had such a great but tiring day at the market! I hope everyone is ready to see what we all bought tomorrow!
