Survival Camp Week 2- Day 2

Tuesday was a terrific day at Tollgate!

Meet the red peppers! Their favorite goats are Luke and Zack.

The red peppers helped take care of the goats today. They provided the goats and sheep with food and water. Why do the female and kid goats get a haircut while Zack and Forest do not?

The orange peppers helped feed the chickens and collect eggs. How often does a chicken lay an egg?

The blue peppers weeded the broccoli bed in the garden. They made extra space for the broccoli plants to grow.

The green peppers talked about seeds in the garden. What are the parts of a seed? What did campers put in the back pack to represent the parts of the seed?

The orange peppers worked together to walk on planks. What was easy about this activity? What was difficult about working together to move forward?

All of the pepper groups went fishing today. What do fish like to eat?

The red peppers loved playing in Mr. Mister. What a nice way to cool off!

What would happen if someone was hurt in the woods and needed airlifted to safety? Your camper learned how to make a daisy chain litter to help stabilize an injured hiker. Ropes were laid out first to hold all of the materials together.

Poles helped stabilize the litter.

Then a mat was added for comfort for the hiker. The ropes were tied around the hiker, poles, and pad to make it easier to life him up.

A hiker could be air lifted out with this daisy chain litter.

After helping the staff make a litter, the campers gave it a try. The blue peppers directed the green peppers.

The campers pulled the rope through the loops they made.

The peppers continued work on their shelters today.

This camper made a welcome sign with his friend.

Good teamwork!

This caterpillar was hiding under a log.Look at the spider a camper found! What cool creatures in the forest!

In morning garden kitchen, the campers made apricot balls.

The green peppers enjoyed playing with their snack. In the afternoon, they made mango salad.
