Hi Campers!
Today was our last day of camp and it was filled with fun activities. Our theme for today was Growing Good Stewards.
All week we have been building sustainable farms and talking about recycling and ways to keep our earth beautiful. We wanted to focus on being good stewards of the land this week and the campers did such a great job!
We made ice cream in a jar today by using ice and salt in a bag with the jar of half and half, sugar and a little bit of vanilla. Most of the ice cream turned out more slushy because it took A LOT of shaking for it to become solid. It was still a ton of fun!
All the campers got to paddle around the Tollgate pond today in canoes. Some groups even played tag while in their canoes and tagged each others boats with their paddles.
Each pepper group did the Ice Melt Challenge today. In their group, they broke into groups of three to five and built something to hold an ice cube without melting it for five minutes. They were given cups, plastic wrap, bubble wrap, wool, cotton balls, and an egg carton.
Throughout the day, groups played games during their free time. They played an owl game where they stood on a platform while the other campers hid in the children’s garden. It’s similar to hide and seek except the seeker can’t run around.
We held our Tollgate Olympics for our final day of camp. The events were egg on a spoon, ball toss, pollen pick up, and water cup relay. The Green and Red Pepper groups were a team and the Yellow and Orange Pepper groups were also teamed up. It was such a close call at the end but both groups ended up tying in the amount of events won.
See you at our next week of camp!
