Today our big activity was fishing. Many of the campers caught fish, some caught up to five or six. The campers caught sunfish, bluegill and bass.
The campers continued to work on their shelters in the woods. The campers have really gotten creative with using raw materials they find in the woods and tarps that they brought with them.
The groups each made their own solar still today using a bowl and plastic in holes they dug. Solar stills work by collecting impure water from outside the collector, and it evaporates when the sunlight shines through the plastic. It then turns into condensation and drips into the collector.
During the foraging hike, campers looked for purslane, raspberries, cattails and many other edible plants around the farm. What did your camper find on their foraging hike?
During garden time, campers played with homemade play dough while they waited for their salad and dressing. The campers picked their own lettuce for their salads. But they mostly enjoyed getting to be so creative with their play dough creations. Some groups even presented their play dough creations by pretending they were on a cooking show.
